1960 Quite possibly five of the worst years in LWO history. It would start off honestly as a small protest against John F. Kennedy later on Richard Nixon over sending American soldiers into Vietnam. What started as an anti-war movement slowly escaladed to wrestling. People felt that wrestling was the direct cause for wars. People believed that the "barbarians" named wrestlers were polluting people's minds into fighting. Because of this wrestlers would find themselves being attacked instead of cheered when entering towns. Many of LWO's stars suddenly quit. Their massive 100-man roster was cut down to but 30 men. LWO no longer could put on so many shows a night. They were faced with one show a night as they toured across Latin America. They also only were able to broadcast two shows a week. |
