1940 Business for LWO and the Mexican territory were at an all time high. In fact, it became so high that they moved out of Recreation Complex's and moved into bigger venues such as football/soccer arenas. LWO in fact became bigger thna football/soccer. The Mexican fans loved these wrestlers, and these wrestlers pretended to love them back. Unfortunately, south of Mexico, no others were having great success. Josh Vincent came up with this incredible idea. It was to be called the Territorial Championsip. It'd be a large event that would be held at different places in Latin America and would feature champions against champions. Most importantly though, a unified championship which would be carried to promotions as a sign of honor. LWO never did win the title though. As a committment to making wrestling huge in the rest of Latin America, LWO vowed that they'd help immortalize some of the wrestlers from other promotions. LWO would always be in the final round, the fans in Mexico could anticipate move for move, but by the end they would always feel bad that their heros were defeated by some "no good Brazilian" or some "stinking Peruvian." Eventually because of this it was changed from a Territorial Bout to a country war. People would march on the streets day in and day out protesting that their country was greater, this did not help the war efforts. Josh Vincent made a general note to listenings to throw down their signs and just enjoy the show. By the end of the era of Territories we'd see LWO cashing in on bigger and bigger of sponsors, who were putting LWO under pressure to change their moves. |
